The total abolishment of payroll taxes, installing a single social benefit, the financing of basic health care from taxes and a constitutional ban of public finance deficit over a period of a single electoral term are among the measures within the Alfa programme platform presented by Radoslav Procházka, an MP for the Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) at the session of the party’s council held in Skalica, Trnava Region, on October 20. If the council does not approve the proposals at its next session in three months, Procházka will know “that it does not make sense to seek such a change in KDH”, the Sme daily reported.
Except for the aforementioned requirements, the platform calls for changes to the pension system, constitutional restriction on the number of taxes, changing the voting system in parliament so only the majority of all deputies will be able to pass a law, and banning state authorities from dismissing public servants because of a change of government, Sme wrote.
Procházka explained that he felt that setting up a platform to promote centre-right policies was necessary as KDH has been in the background for some time, the TASR newswire reported.
“I have the ambition to persuade KDH to adopt this programme and then promote it further in cooperation with other parties that share similar ideas,” he said, as quoted by TASR.
Procházka added that his main goal is “cooperation rather than solo performance” and stressed that he wants to promote “a generational renewal of Slovak politics”.
Chair of the KDH party Ján Figeľ has not commented on the proposals within the platform yet. He says that the movement is planning the new programme for the following years and that all members of the party can contribute to its preparation with their ideas, Sme wrote.
