THE FIRM that won last year's tender to become Slovakia's third mobile operator, Telefónica O2 Slovakia, might now be stripped of its license.
The Bratislava Regional Prosecutor's Office has challenged the results of the license tender, which the company won in August 2006, arguing that several laws were broken during the tender.
According to the Slovak Television public broadcaster, the prosecutor's actions could lead to the eventual cancellation of the tender.
The Regional Prosecutor's Office has filed an appeal against the tender decision with the Telecom Bureau (TÚ), which has 30 days to respond. The TÚ insists, however, that the tender was correct, while Transport and Telecoms Minister Ľubomír Vážny does not see any problems with the tender either.
Telefónica O2, meanwhile, continues to prepare to launch its own network in Slovakia in February.
