Prosecutor wants Lexa back in jail

A Bratislava region state prosecutor has proposed that former secret service boss Ivan Lexa be again taken into pre-trial custody to prevent his fleeing the country a second time.

Lexa, who was extradited from South Africa to Slovakia in July after two years in hiding from an Interpol warrant abroad, faces eight charges in Slovakia including kidnapping and armed robbery.

He was released from pre-trial custody August 16 after a panel of Supreme Court justices ruled a lower court judge who had jailed him was biased.
