A PROTEST against EU accession talks with Turkey will take place in Bratislava on Saturday, July 16, the SITA news wire reported.
The protest is part of a rolling European campaign called Voice for Europe, which will begin in Budapest on Wednesday, July 13. Bratislava will take over on Saturday and the protest will continue in Vienna, Paris, London, Brussels, Prague, Luxembourg, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Berlin, Warsaw, and Vilnius.
The demonstration in Bratislava will start in front of the Interior Ministry on Pribinova street on Saturday, July 16 at 10:00.
Protesters will release European flag balloons. The protest organizers want the politicians to let the idea of Turkey joining the EU “fly away”. Organizers also say the balloons represent the fragile nature of the integration process: if we blow too hard it will explode.
Accession talks with Turkey are planned to commence in October this year.
