TRNAVA-based car-manufacturing plant owned by PSA Peugeot Citröen Slovakia will halt production from September 22 to October 3, 2014 due to falling demand for new cars.
The planned overall production is however higher in 2014 than in 2013 when plant produced more than 248,000 cars. In first eight months of 2014 plant produced almost 188,000 cars which is by 7.4 percent more than in 2013, according to spokesman Peter Švec, the SITA newswire reported.
“The first half of this year was, in the case of the plant in Trnava, marked by increase of orders,” Švec said, as quoted by the SITA newswire, “which resulted in installing seven Saturday shifts and one extended night shift from Sunday to Monday.”
The plant guarantees no layoffs via collectively bargained agreement with workers, according to SITA.
