Carmaker PSA Peugeot Citroen, based in Trnava, plans to temporarily increase its output beginning in 2010. PSA spokesman Peter Švec informed that the afternoon shifts will be prolonged by one hour which means that the car plant will produce 900 vehicles each day instead of the usual 850, the SITA newswire reported.
The production is expected to be kept at this level for a period of six weeks, from January 11 to February 19, 2010. The Trnava-based plant increased its production temporarily already once this year, from June until the end of October. Švec explained that the company still feels the positive effects the car scrapping bonus in several European countries, for example, in Germany and in Italy.
In late December, the plant will stop production for two weeks. Assembly lines will stop on December 22 and will be put back into operation on January 4. The plant will have its winter break even though the company has registered an increase in orders by more than 20 percent. SITA
