Basic salaries in the public sector will remain unchanged next year, based on higher-level collective agreements that the government signed with representatives of trade unions on Wednesday, December 15. Public sector workers will, however, receive an extra week of paid leave in 2011.
Labour ministry spokeswoman Slavomíra Selešová told the SITA newswire that parties to the agreement would discuss possible improvement of basic salaries in May 2011 depending on the development of the economic situation in Slovakia. The government and unions also agreed that severance pay will amount to one month’s salary and can be increased further in corporate collective agreements.
