RUSSIAN President Vladimir Putin, who is on an official visit to Slovakia, laid a wreath this morning at the Slavín memorial in Bratislava, according to the TASR news agency.Compiled by Spectator staff from press reports
The memorial was built in honour of 7,000 Russian soldiers killed in the liberation of Bratislava in World War II.
Slovak President Ivan Gašparovič, who accompanied President Putin, also laid a wreath at the memorial.
Veterans of World War II were also present. After the laying of the wreaths, the two presidents viewed the interior of the memorial.
