Béla Bugár, Chairman of the Slovak Hungarian Coalition (SMK) on why his party was unwilling to support coalition-proposed constitutional amendments. Bugar said SMK demands on the amendments had been ignored by the Democratic Left Party (SDL).

President Rudolf Schuster after visiting his newly purchased Presidential villa in Bratislava's Slavín area. The state bought the villa for 36 million crowns ($783,000) and further reconstruction is estimated at an additional 1.5 million ($32,600).
