ABOUT 40 percent of the R2 express double-carriage way between Kriváň and Pstruša (Banská Bystrica Region) is still under construction, which is in accordance with the planned timetable. On the other hand, the R2 section between Pstruša and Zvolen slightly lags behind plans that envisioned its completion in September 2016, the TASR newswire reported.
“The progress of the work on the stretch around Detva exceeds expectations, meaning that this section could be opened even before the deadline,” Transport Minister Ján Počiatek said during the inspection day, as quoted by TASR. “It will also depend on this winter, though. The construction work between Pstruša and Zvolen began at a later date, so the progress there is not so visible yet.”
Since the completion of the Pstruša-Zvolen stretch, financed from EU funds, will be delayed, the ministry is likely to fund the work not only from resources allocated under the currently ending programme period, but also from the next one.
As for the Zvolen bypass, the minister announced that the planned construction in Sliač has already been rejected by the Spa and Springs Inspectorate.
“Hence, the route will probably need to be changed,” Počiatek said, as quoted by TASR. “This means that we are back to the environmental assessment phase and, unfortunately, will lose more time.”
