Slovak Prime Minister Iveta Radičová left Bratislava on Thursday, September 29, for a two-day summit of the Eastern Partnership in Warsaw. Top representatives of 33 countries are due to take part in the session. Leading EU figures are also set to attend, including European Council President Herman van Rompuy, European Parliament Chairman Jerzy Buzek and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso.
The leaders will assess the results achieved via the Eastern Partnership, which covers Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, and approve steps aimed at making co-operation even more effective, the TASR newswire wrote. In addition, new aims should be defined in Warsaw for the partnership between the EU's 27 member states and the six countries of the partnership. The summit should contribute to the further development of the deep and comprehensive free trade area (DCFTA) between the EU and Ukraine. Slovak Foreign Affairs Minister Mikuláš Dzurinda recently expressed Slovakia's support for the project.
