INTERIM Prime Minister Iveta Radičová would have been the most popular candidate if a presidential election had been held in late October, according to the results of a poll conducted by the MVK polling agency, the SITA newswire reported.
Though Radičová would have come first, backed by 30 percent of the voters surveyed, she recently stated that she did not want to be head of state. Speaking on STV she said that she did not want to run in the 2014 presidential election, explaining that a person should attempt to run for president once and respect the citizens if they say ‘no’.
Radičová ran in 2009, but lost to the incumbent, Ivan Gašparovič, in a second-round run-off.
