Police officers who cause car accidents while driving drunk should be punished more severely than other citizens, whether on duty or not. It should be part of their professional ethical code to set a good example to other drivers. Cops who cause deaths driving drunk should go to jail, not just consider resignation. Their bosses should be fired. Their colleagues would then perhaps pay more attention to the problem. The police president should be the one to consider resignation in this case.
