In the marketplace (anywhere, not just in Slovakia), the price of anything plummets when new competition appears. The problem is that people continue to use Microsoft's software while there are free alternatives. It's like cigarettes - has the price gone down (ever?) when new brands come about? Users or those introducing them to computers (teachers/parents) need to start using free software so that the youngsters will have a choice when they grow up. Otherwise they will be locked in forever.
