I think Ryanair wants to ensure that low cost carriers will be permitted to continue to fly into Bratislava Airport.

Since Vienna Airport is the better-known airport worldwide, Bratislava, with its low cost carriers and close proximity to Vienna, is a threat to the more expensive carriers such as Austrian Airlines.

By having control of Bratislava Airport the number of flights out of the area can be regulated.

The growth of low-cost carriers such as Ryanair, SkyEurope and EasyJet is a threat to the national carriers, which have national prestige and years of great investment at stake.

The competition between airports as well as between airlines is good for the area and good for Slovakia.
