This is all very well in the short term, workers are working and jobs are created("Continental brings work to Slovak JV", By Peter Barecz, Vol.8 No.16, April 29 - May 5).
Long term, Slovak nationals should have a stake in the company. It should be an equal joint venture. It wont be long though, before the workers will want better pay which is reasonable as their European neighbours enjoy more for the same. What do you think Continental will do then? Yes, you guessed it, they will move to another country where labour is cheaper again and close down the plant in Slovakia, and there will be little lasting effect.
