I don't think it's any surprise to find Americans interfering in the affairs of a smaller, weaker nation - this is after all what they do best and what they do to the rest of Europe, both East and West. However it is about time that the EU grew up and realised it has a role in challenging this American interference rather than assisting it. If we are to avoid creating a "fortress Europe" out of the EU then ALL European states need to be welcomed in to the union and their internal affairs should be of no concern. The EU is supposed to exist to promote peace and tolerance in Europe. If a nation has chosen to apply for membership then it has already shown its commitment to the Union.
