Re: Smer wants Slovakia to be social state, Flash News, December 5, 2005
So it is back to the period before 1989. At least Fico is now finally trying to form some sort of a political programme, and it is not surprising it is a Communist-inspired one, given his past. I think he can easily find partners in both the Movement for a Democratic Slovakia and the Communist Party, since they have similar programmes.
If a political party says it will overturn the reforms, and big reforms like these in Slovakia, then it will certainly make investors careful before investing.
Not to mention the citizens, what should they believe in if everything is changing so much every time a new government steps in? Cancelling the flat tax and reversing the privatization process are not just minor changes.
Slovakia should really take care at the next elections. Fico is another Mečiar and will do exactly the same. He is not even trying to hide it.
