Re: Bratislava wearies of stag tourism, Volume 12, Number 21, May 29 - June 04, 2006
Many Florida communities have the same problems-Fort Lauderdale, for example. Greece and Croatia also suffer from this type of tourism. It certainly does not contribute much to the reputation of the UK abroad.
They've become the new "Ugly Americans." But most of the blame can be leveled at the discount airlines and the severe price disparities between SK and the UK. Once it costs as much to purchase a half litre of beer in Bratislava as in London, this type of tourism will evaporate. Slovakia has better things to offer: hiking, Unesco sites, skiing, castles, spas, etc.
