Re: Tragedy of insufficient education, reader feedback, Vol. 8 No. 21, June 3-9
I strongly support the idea of bursaries for financially disadvantaged students. However, I believe that it should be an incentive by the government to provide equal opportunities for gaining higher education especially outside of the Slovak Republic.
The government should design a programme which will select the best students in the country and offer them financial help in order to complete their education abroad. In relation to knowledge of a foreign language, I believe that with the current trend of learning languages in Slovakia this should not be seen as an obstacle.
However, students chosen for this programme would need to fulfill certain criteria. The two most important would be:
1. Belonging to a group that is not able to pay for schooling abroad
2. Signing an agreement with the government that if they don't return to the country they will have to repay the study cost.
