I guess some things are the same no matter where you live. A lot of people here in southern California are just happy to have a job. Not too many people are happy about their salaries, because the cost of living in the Los Angeles area is really high.
It used to be that you went to work for a company, and worked there until you retired the age of 65. No longer. People change jobs like they change cars - a new one every couple of years. I am glad that I am near retirement age. It is hard to find "good" jobs because people don't leave them as often.
