To say the flat tax "has been praised by international economic bodies" is a bit of a sweeping statement. While I am sure there are some, there isn't a great deal of support from within the old EU countries, or from within the US for that matter. In any case, the flat tax is likely to have a long-term impact that may not turn out to be as advantageous as some think.
