Re: Danube green area destroyed, Volume 11, Number 14, April 11 - April 17, 2005

London and Bratislava have a lot in common because London faces the same pressures [from developers]. I would like to congratulate the activists in Bratislava for their foresight on what is happening on the banks of the Danube and to congratulate the author of this article for understanding the issue.

The report necessarily only gives a brief introduction to what is going on in Bratislava and it is very pleasing indeed to see local action and concern.

I am active with local government and NGOs in London on green issues. Londoners are increasingly aware of the conflict between development and the natural ecosystem.

"Untidiness" is not usually acceptable when it is of man-made origin, but not an argument for clearing all natural decay.

Bratislavans, keep up your good work, and I hope we can learn from each other!
