As a football fan who has been to Slovakia twice I am sympathetic to all the Slovaks who feel bad about this unfortunate situation. It was not too many years ago that a few English (and Scottish) fans threw bananas onto the pitch when a black player took a corner or a throw-in. The black players were perhaps a novelty for a minority of people. As we all know there are always going to be a few idiots among the good majority. Football is hardly known for its brain surgeons and rocket scientists. Unfortunately, where the England team goes the media follows and that is why there has been so much attention paid to this.
