I sincerely hope that the EU does not become a superpower like the US. US centralisation may improve military funding, but it is also a major source of problems, e.g. runaway military-industrial bureaucracy, inefficient social programme models, destruction of regional cultures, unresponsive top-down problem-solving, etc. Certainly, this is not the purpose of the EU experiment. Broadening and integrating the economies, and easing nationalistic antagonisms should be the main goals. The world does not need another faith-based, imperialist superpower.
