Let's not make this into a popularity contest, as in who gave what and how much.

I believe that true Slovaks did give in their own way and others will as they find it in their hearts to contribute whatever they can afford. We all will or should do our bit to help in whatever way we can.

There are many organizations that are run by people who truly give of their time and skills to see to it that the majority of the money donated will go to those who need it the most.

The Slovak government could have done a better job of relating this tragedy through the news and TV media in a much quicker manner. At least they could have started some organization where people would be able to call in or send in their donations.

In other words show some leadership to the citizens and they will respond. And make sure the moneys are used honestly, and not tied up in bureaucratic red tape. I don't know if this was done or not (If it was, I'm sorry for the remark). Maybe the people are still suspicious of their leaders, more so still in Slovakia than elsewhere.

I think people in general are suspicious about what amount truly goes to the people in real need. Let's hope for a positive response from Slovakia on this.
