It is a sad day for gays and lesbians in Slovakia when elected officials believe creating an atmosphere of public persecution where people can feel justified in hating homosexuals and saying so publicly is acceptable simply because they claim it is their religious belief.
I am proud to live in Sweden where our hate crime laws protect homosexuals. I am proud to be accepted by my bishop and by the Church of Sweden as a gay priest. I have now lived together with my partner, also a priest, for 18 years.
