I think the agreement between Slovakia and Hungary [on the provision of educational support by each country to speakers of its national language living in the other country] is very important, and not just for political and economical relations in Slovakia. It is also a big step in the right direction. This cosmopolitan attitude is the best answer to some "patriotic" groups in Slovakia and Europe that attack minorities. It is very easy to turn to populist politics and target people who are different. It is more difficult to try to understand our neighbours and make an effort to live together.
