I have only just read the wonderful article about L'udovit Pavlo: it is quite enlightening. I am a first generation Slovak-American and I have recently returned from the area where my parents were born - Nova Huta on the border of Uzhorod [Ukraine].

I agree with Dr Pavlo as regards Slovak-Americans. Although I was born and raised in Connecticut, USA, somehow my identity has always been much more Slovak. Perhaps because I was raised in a small Slovak church community.

I graduated from Columbia University in New York and am well educated. Still I find it so enchanting to visit the Czech Republic and Slovakia whenever I can.
