Perchance it is not within my realm to comment on this article, but having some personal experience with a KIA automotive product, I will share it with you.
I have a 2000 KIA Sportage model with two-wheel drive, since southern California does not experience heavy snow levels. I have driven 77,000 kilometres without any problems. It has been the most maintenance-free automobile I have owned since I purchased a new Volkswagen bug in 1958.
I am not the gentlest driver. I put 175,000 kilometres on the VW before I sold it. My cars prior to the KIA were three Italian vehicles, and as is to be expected from high performance machines, they did require engine overhauls at about 150,000 to 200,000 km. I believe that the KIA will be a 10-year car. Therefore, a KIA factory can produce a reliable auto and would be of benefit to Slovakia.
The downside may be in the increased population requirements for a town the size of Zilina. If the factory does not place too large a strain on the local governmental infrastructure, I am sure that such a factory would be of great benefit for Slovakia.
