Re: Rusko dismissed, By Martina Jurinová, Aug 29 - Sept 4, 2005, Vol 11, No 33
Rusko was dismissed for losing the trust of the rest of the coalition (including part of his own MPs) rather than for concrete failure to adhere to a rule or precedent. It's quite likely that [Prime Minister Mikuláš Dzurinda calculated the likely fallout from the dismissal versus the increased ill feeling of the KDH [Christian Democratic Movement] and decided that now was as good a time as any to let go his controversial erstwhile ally.
It's still not what you do but who knows about it and what you can offer to keep things quiet. Horse-trading as usual in Slovakia. The most likely effect is to increase adherence to a grey, middle-of-the-road party line that tolerates a fairly high level of corruption as long as everyone is getting an equal piece of the pie.
