Re: Mexico drops visa requirement, News in short, Vol 10, No 29, Jul 26 - Aug 8
I am married to a Slovak man. I have been to Slovakia three times, and twice accompanied my mother-in-law to the US embassy. Not only was she denied a visa both times, but I even called and spoke to the consulate myself after the second time. He told me point-blank that she would never get a visa because she was retired and divorced.
I was born and raised American and I have two American children, yet my children could not have their grandmother come here to witness their births or their first birthdays, etc. So for all of you Slovaks who think it is just you guys being denied the chance of a life here, think again! It affects even us Americans. It feels like I've been punished because I didn't want to marry a lazy American man.
