FORTY percent of those recently polled would vote in favour of early elections in the referendum, said the Slovak Statistics Office's Institute for Public Opinion Research.
11 percent of those polled said they would vote against the motion.
24 percent do not intend to cast their ballots and 25 percent of the public are as yet undecided as to whether they will attend, the news wire SITA wrote.
Reasons given vary on why citizens do not want to take part in the referendum. 37 percent said they are disgusted by political developments, 20 percent said they were not interested in politics, and an additional 14 percent think the plebiscite will be void due to low turnout.
9 percent of respondents do not want to attend the referendum because they think deputies are not obliged to accept the referendum outcome. Moreover, 8 percent of those polled consider their vote unimportant.
The referendum will be valid if turnout exceeds 50 percent.
