PLACING of traditional religious symbols in public facilities belongs within the cultural and legal tradition of European countries and should be respected, according to a declaration of the Slovak Parliament approved by MPs on Thursday, December 10.
They were reacting to a verdict by the European Court of Human Rights to ban crucifixes from public schools in Italy, the SITA newswire reported. According to the declaration, the placement of religious symbols in schools does not infringe in any way parents' rights to educate their children.
