Renewable energy sources might increase the price of electric power for households in Slovakia by 14 percent in the near future. Such an increase in prices would become a reality if all the approved projects, as well as all projects awaiting approval, are connected to the
power grid, according to the Institute for Energy Security.
The institute’s Peter Marčan told journalists on Wednesday, March 24, that distribution companies report having received applications for connection to the grid amounting to over 1,900 megawatts of installed capacity from renewable energy sources. Households would pay €49 to €67 more per year than they do now, depending on how many kilowatt hours of electricity they consume, for these renewable energy sources.
