The level of rent that can be asked for on restituted property will continue to be regulated until the end of next year.

This change is based on a revision to the prices law, which was approved by parliament on March 29.

The main goal of the revision, submitted by Movement for a Democratic Slovakia MPs Ľudmila Mušková and Katarína Tóthová, is to postpone the planned rent deregulation for restituted properties.

The MPs originally suggested that the planned deregulation be postponed from July 1, 2007 to July 1, 2010. Opposition deputies stated that this revision does not comply with the Constitution, since it limits owners’ rights.
