Jan Marinus Wiersma, the European Parliament's special rapporteur for Slovakia, has demanded Slovakia investigate a report by the New York-based Reproductive Rights Centre that Slovak Roma women have been sterilized against their will.
The report contains a range of testimony from Roma women, but has been contested by some Slovak doctors.
Pál Csáky, deputy PM for human rights and minorities, has filed charges against an unidentified perpetrator in the case.
