THE OFFICIAL launch of the reverse flow of gas to Ukraine via the Vojany-Uzhgorod pipeline will take place on September 2, the TASR newswire reported.

Eustream, the Slovak gas transmission operator, invested in the connection from its own resources and requested no subsidies from the state or the European Union.

“We can now confirm that the capacity of the Vojany-Uzhgorod gas pipeline is brought out by customers by the end of 2019,” said Vahram Chuguryan, spokesperson for Eustream, as quoted by TASR.

Eustream will transit 10 billion cubic metres of gas via the pipeline per year, or 27 million cubic metres a day. The minimum guaranteed volume of the transit as of October 1 will be 17.6 million cubic meters of gas a day.

The number of shippers who submitted their bids for transit is between five and 10, Chuguryan said. He added they cannot publish their identity as that information is confidential.
