AS OF May 2010 the holders of licences to operate nuclear facilities and handle nuclear material will pay higher contributions to the Nuclear Supervision Office (ÚJD) for the performance of state supervision. The move stems from a draft revision to the nuclear energy law passed by the cabinet.
Due to the higher proposed contribution for performance of state supervision, the revenues of the ÚJD should increase by €728,000 to €4.9 million.
“All commercial activities in the nuclear industry are unthinkable, unacceptable from the European and world point of view, and subsequently unfeasible without an effective, reliable, and financially secure supervisory authority, which has the necessary staff and technical equipment,” ÚJD said, in a statement about the need to revise the nuclear energy law.
