Fico leads the popularity contest, enjoying the trust of almost one in four Slovak citizens, the SITA news agency reported.

President Ivan Gašparovič is the second most trusted politician, having the trust of 14 percent of the respondents, followed by Vladimír Mečiar from the opposition Movement for a Democratic Slovakia, with 11 percent.

Béla Bugár, the head of the Hungarian Coalition Party, is the most trusted cabinet politician with 8.8 percent of the vote.

In comparison to a similar poll carried out in July, the number of respondents who said they did not trust any politician increased by four points, going from 24 percent to more than 28 percent.
