A Romanian-flagged cargo vessel was involved in an accident on the Danube River in Slovakia in the small hours of Wednesday, January 9, morning.
The ship ran into a sandbank near Medveďov (Trnava Region) at around 02:30. A rescue team dispatched to assist the ship then had difficulty locating it, as it had lost power. The hull of the vessel was not breached, and no oil leaked into the river. Two sailors were onboard during the accident, neither of whom was injured. A tug from Gabčíkovo was later called to the scene to free the ship.
