Romathan celebrates 20 years of existence

THE ONLY professional Roma theatre in Slovakia, Romathan, celebrated its 20th anniversary in October. The Košice-based theatre, which mainly performs for schools and institutions, as well as travelling around Slovakia and abroad, commemorated its establishment by staging the play Rómsky holocaust – Svedectvo / Roma Holocaust – The Testimony, written by Milan Godla and directed by Marián Balog. This piece, which premiered back in 2008, shows the fate of Roma in a concentration camp, as based on true stories and testimonies, and also includes documentary movies form concentration camps. However, it also shows the current problem of racism and prejudice in modern society, the Pravda daily wrote.
