Miloslava Zemková, the head of Slovakia’s joint public-service TV and radio, RTVS, will file a lawsuit over the action to recall her submitted by Dušan Jarjabek, an MP for Smer party and a member of the parliamentary committee for culture and media, the Sme daily reported.
"Neither logical, nor professional, nor any other arguments have weight in this fabricated case," Zemková stated, as quoted by Sme.
The opposition does not expect that things might change in a parliamentary vote regarding Zemkova since Smer has a clear majority in parliament.
"There are efforts to quickly get political control over public-service television and radio," said SaS member and former culture minister Daniel Krajcer.
Jarjabek said that he is only following the law and that Zemková had breached it. The parliamentary committee proposed to recall Zemková on June 12.
Zemková told Sme that the RTVS annual report for last year vindicated her leadership saying it recorded the first profit ever for the public-service media company.
Sme wrote that Jarjabek claims that the head of RTVS breached the law by not informing the RTVS Council in advance on announcing a competition for renting premises for the media complex. The head of the RTVS Council, Miroslav Kollár, told Sme he considers this course of action incorrect but not at odds with the law.
