CULTURE Minister Rudolf Chmel is set to resign by May 15. Pavel Rusko, co-chairman of the New Citizen’s Alliance party (ANO), to which Chmel belongs, told journalists of Chmel’s intentions April 11, the TASR news agency reported.
Chmel will be replaced by Frantisek Tóth, said Rusko, another ANO member, and at present State Secretary at the Education Ministry. Tóth is embroiled in a heated dispute with Education Minister Martin Fronc (KDH) over education reforms.
The ongoing dispute over the new Slovak National Theatre building is thought to be behind the dispute.
