Russian intelligence chief thanks Slovak counterpart

IN A LETTER delivered March 21 the director of Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), Sergei Lebedev, thanked his Slovak counterpart, Slovak Information Service (SIS) Director Ladislav Pittner and his staff for cooperation on security arrangements for President Vladimir Putin's February 24 visit to Slovakia.

Lebedev firmly believes that SVR and SIS will continue to cooperate successfully for the sake of both countries and international stability, according to the TASR news agency.

On February 24 Putin met US President George W Bush for talks on global security issues.
