"This amount confirms the increasing trend of the internet trade, and we estimate this year's total turnover to be Sk1.8 billion (€59.75 million)," its executive director said.

Although the average value of one order decreased by Sk355 (€11.78) year-on-year to Sk4,351 (€144.43), the revenue in the first half of 2008 represents 59 percent of the turnover for all of 2007. The decrease of the average value of transaction is a result of the gradual broadening of the range of clients to include new customers with lower incomes, especially younger cutomers, and lower prices, especially in electronics, the executive director said.

The higher revenue is also the result of the increased consumer confidence, which the SAEC supports by granting certificates under a Safe Shopping project, the director said. TASR
