Salary expectations of job-seekers have dropped over the past three months by 1 percent, as the average expected pay went down from €760 in the first quarter of this year to €756 in the second quarter, Lucia Burianová of Profesia, which runs the job portal Profesia.sk, told the TASR newswire on Monday, July 6.
According to data entered into the website by jobseekers, salary expectations had been going up by an average of 11 percent per year since 2006 – when they stood at €555 on average.
“The hike in salary expectations in the last few years was due to rapid economic growth, a rise in the employment rate, foreign investments, as well as an ever more blatant shortage of qualified candidates on the market,” said Profesia's project manager Miroslav Dravecký.
The salary expectations were on the rise particularly in 2006 and 2007, while in 2008 their rise decelerated moderately and in the second quarter of 2009 the drop was observed, Dravecký added.
