SAMSUNG Electronics Slovakia, Galanta, plans to build a logistics and distribution centre for central and eastern Europe in Galanta, southern Slovakia. The centre should create about 200 jobs, news wire SITA reported.
Jan Lazar from Medeia Slovakia that represents Samsung in Slovakia said that the company plans the end-year with a turnover of Sk39 billion (€1 billion). Next year its production should reach Sk65 billion (€1.57 billion). This figure should rank Samsung Electronics Slovakia among the country's three biggest exporters.
President of Samsung Slovakia, KD Cho, is happy that they have found a common approach with the Slovak government in planning the road infrastructure development in the region.
He said that road infrastructure is of key importance for building the logistics centre.
Samsung’s Galanta plant spent over Sk1.9 billion (€50 million) in capital investments in Slovakia from October 2003 to January 2004. The Galanta-based production plant employs 2,200 people and the company plans to hire a further 1,000 workers over the next three years.
