It is Health Minister Ivan Uhliarik (a nominee of the Christian Democratic Movement (KDH)) who is fully responsible for the current state of Slovak health care and Prime Minister Iveta Radičová (Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ)) along with President Ivan Gašparovič should take action against him, SaS chairman Richard Sulík said at a press conference on Tuesday, November 29.
He went on to say, as quoted by the TASR newswire, that the premier and president should act at least as promptly to sack Uhliarik as they did former defence minister Ľubomír Galko (Freedom and Solidarity (SaS)), who was dismissed earlier this month over allegations of wiretapping. On Monday evening, the government declared a state of emergency applying to 15 hospitals in 13 districts in Slovakia where doctors are due to leave their jobs from December 1 as part of a labour dispute.
