Finance Minister Brigita Schmognerová yesterday handed a formal letter of resignation to President Rudolf Schuster; her replacement, central bank economist František Hajnovič, is expected to be confirmed this afternoon. She admitted she was still interested in a job with the UN, where she was considered in 2000 for the post of director of the European Economic Commission, but said she would return to parliament as a member on Wednesday.
